"The secret to getting ahead is getting started."  Mark Twain

Are you ready to turn your ability to clean into a profitable business?

Our Start a Cleaning Business package will make it easy for you to move foward and get on the road to success.

1. A Website

A bright and modern website is 100% needed to run a successful business. Our package includes creating and launching a website that will be branded with your business name. This will make your business visible on Google and give you a home base on the Internet. Scroll down to the bottom of this website to find a sample website for a made up business named Truly Clean Toronto.

2. Website Address Search (ULR)

Your new website will have it's own generic website address or "URL". This generic website address will be given to you as part of this package so you can use it. The goal is to have your website name match your business name. We will do the required search to try to get you a website address that will match your business name. Sometimes website addresses are already taken. This package does not include your web hosting fees.

3. Business Name Search

It goes without saying that your new business will need a business name. You might even have a business name in mind already. Our package includes a Ministry Search to make sure the name you choose isn’t being used already.

4. Registering Your Business

Your new business will need to be registered. We will support you through this process so you will be officially registered as a Sole Proprietorship. We are not allowed to register your business on your behalf and this package does not include the 60 dollar registration fee. Don’t worry – we will make this easy and walk you through it so you have your own registered business.

5. Business Cards

No business is complete without Business Cards. Our package will give you a start by supplying you with 100 professional business cards that will display your business name, contact information and Website.

6. Business Flyers

Your package includes 25 copies of flyers that will be branded with your business name. Business flyers are a versatile, low-cost way to attract attention, inform potential customers, and promote your businesses. You can photocopy these flyers to keep up your supply..

7. Marketing Plan

Cleaning is a high demand business which means there are lot of clients waiting to hire you. Marketing your business will let people know you are ready to take on clients. Our package includes information on excellent ways to market your business. There are many free and inexpensive ways to market your new business to give you a running start.

High Demand

There is always a demand for cleaning services. Whether it’s residential cleaning, commercial cleaning, or specialized services (like carpet or window cleaning), people need their spaces cleaned regularly. In today’s busy world, many people and businesses prefer to outsource this task.

High Profit

While cleaning services might seem like a low-cost business, the profit margins can be relatively high. A cleaning business offers an affordable, flexible, and scalable way to start a company with consistent demand and the potential for growth.

Low Start Up Cost

Cleaning businesses generally have low startup costs compared to many other types of businesses. You don't need to invest in expensive equipment, and the materials you need (cleaning supplies, equipment, etc.) are inexpensive. This makes it accessible for people with limited money to start a business.

Flexibility

A cleaning business can offer a high degree of flexibility. You can choose your working hours, whether you prefer to operate during the day or at night. You can also scale your business gradually, offering services to one client at a time or expanding to multiple clients in different sectors.

Repeat and Stable Business

Cleaning services are often repeat businesses, as clients typically require regular cleaning. This can provide a steady and predictable income stream once you have established a customer base.

Scalable Business

You can scale your cleaning business as you grow. Starting small with just you as a solo operator can eventually lead to larger opportunities.

Minimal Technical Skills

You don’t need a formal degree or specialized technical skills to start a cleaning business, which lowers the barrier to entry. Good organizational and management skills are more important, and the cleaning process itself is something most people can learn quickly.

Opportunity for Specialization

Cleaning businesses can specialize in various niches, such as eco-friendly cleaning, post-construction cleaning, or event cleaning, allowing you to cater to specific customer needs and stand out in a competitive market

Recession Resistant

Cleaning services are often seen as essential, meaning there’s a consistent demand even during economic downturns. People may cut back on some luxury services, but maintaining clean spaces remains a priority for both businesses and households.

Personal Satisfaction

Cleaning offers tangible, visible results. Many business owners find satisfaction in helping clients improve their living or working conditions. The sense of accomplishment from transforming a dirty space into a clean one can be fulfilling.

Residential House Cleaning

Thorough cleaning solutions tailored to a home's unique needs, ensuring a spotless and comfortable living space.

Eco Friendly Cleaning

An Eco-friendly cleaning service using non-toxic, environmentally safe products. This service is the same as standard cleaning but with the use of natural cleaning solutions.

Air BnB or Short Stay Rental Cleaning

Airbnb or Short Stay Rental properties typically have quick turnovers, with guests checking out and new ones checking in on the same day. The cleaning process has to be fast, thorough, and efficient. This includes washing linens, changing towels, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing common areas and bathrooms. The focus is often on ensuring that every surface is spotless and hygienic, as guests expect hotel-like cleanliness.

Seniors Cleaning

Seniors may face physical limitations such as mobility issues, arthritis, or weakness, making it difficult for them to handle cleaning tasks themselves. Families of seniors often struggle to balance their own responsibilities with providing support for their aging loved ones. A professional and empathic cleaning service provides relief for both families and seniors.

Move In / Move Out Cleaning

Move In / Move Out Cleaning is a deep and thorough cleaning service typically performed when a tenant moves out of a rental property or when new tenants are moving in. Move-in/move-out cleaning is common in rental properties, homes, apartments, and even commercial spaces, and it’s especially important for landlords, real estate agents, or property managers who want to ensure a good impression with new tenants or prospective buyers.

Cleaning Gift Certificate

Cleaning as a Gift is a thoughtful and practical way to show someone you care, offering them the gift of a clean, organized, and stress-free home or workspace. It's an ideal present for a variety of occasions, such as birthdays, holidays, housewarmings, weddings, or even as a gesture of appreciation for a friend, family member, or colleague. You can think about ways to sell your cleaning service by way of a Gift Certificate.

Do I need experience to start a cleaning business?
While prior experience can be helpful, it's not necessary. Many successful cleaning business owners start without experience.
What type of insurance do I need?
You will want to buy liability insurance to protect against property damage or injury claims.  It is inexpensive for a cleaning business and not a barrier. A well reviewed and affordable company is Zensurance  - www.zensurance.com
What equipment do I need to start a cleaning business?
Basic cleaning equipment includes:

  • Vacuum cleaner (Or use the client's vacuum cleaner as part of your agreement)
  • Mops and buckets
  • Cleaning cloths or microfiber towels
  • Brooms and dustpans
  • Cleaning chemicals (disinfectants, glass cleaners, etc.)
  • Gloves
Do I need to hire employees?
You don’t need to hire employees. Many cleaning business owners work alone.  As your business grows, you may want to hire employees to take on more work or provide specialized services.
Where do I buy cleaning supplies?
It is really good to buy cleaning supplies from a professional equipment and supply store that is open to the public.  The staff at the store can help you choose the right products and give you tips.  A example of a good store in Toronto is Triple A Cleaning Supplies and Equipment - located at 1702 Danforth Avenue Toronto.
Do I need a car to start a cleaning business?
You can start a cleaning business without a car - especially if you live in the city.  You can focus on the area around where you live and offer your service in large buildings or in a seniors apartment.  You would bring a small amount of equipment with you in a cart on wheels.  Many people start a cleaning business without a vehicle.
Once I have my business can I start using Tax Write-Offs?
Yes you will be in a position to use tax write-offs when you have your own cleaning business.

Tax write-offs are expenses that help your business operate and generate income. Some common ones include:
  • Office supplies (paper, pens, ink, computers, etc.)
  • Rent or lease payments for office or business space
  • Utilities (electricity, water, internet, phone)
  • Software and subscriptions (cloud services, accounting software, etc.)
  • Cleaning Supplies and equipment.
  • Advertising and marketing expenses (flyers, digital ads, etc.)
If you use your car for business, you can write off the cost of gas, maintenance, insurance, and even depreciation.

Home Office Deduction: If you work from home and meet specific requirements, you may be able to write off a portion of your home’s expenses, such as mortgage interest, utilities, and home insurance.
